Danforth Annual Juried Exhibition 2026

Featuring some of the best artistic talent in New England in a showcase of diverse media and exceptional skills, emerging and established artists in all media are invited to submit work. The Danforth Annual Juried Exhibition is a highly competitive exhibition open to artists 18 years and older who live or work in the New England area.  Artists can submit up to three works created within the last three years.

  • Submissions open Monday, March 16

  • Announcement of selected artists Friday, April 24 at 12pm
  • Artwork drop off Wednesday, May 27 – Friday, May 29 from 12-5pm
  • Exhibition Opens Saturday, June 13
  • Members Only Opening Reception will be held on June 20 from 6-8pm
  • Exhibition on view through August 30
  • Artwork pickup dates Wednesday, September 2 – Friday, September 4 from 12-5pm

Lauren Graves is the associate curator of special collections at the Boston Athenaeum where she focuses on the photography collection. She is currently working on an exhibition on the bicentennial photography of Constantine Manos, Where’s Boston? 50 Years Later, scheduled to open in June, 2026, with an accompanying catalogue Constantine Manos: Bostonians. Previously she held curatorial positions at the MIT Museum and the National Gallery of Art and has taught art history courses at Boston University. She holds a PhD in art history from Boston University and a MA from Temple University.

 

Rachel joined the Danforth Art Museum as Collections Manager in 2019 and was promoted to Assistant Director in 2025.  She has curated exhibitions including Indigenous Voices in Contemporary ArtHarvest, Foraged, Found, and several Juried Exhibitions.  Previously, Rachel worked at the American Independence Museum in Exeter, New Hampshire as the Collections and Visitor Services Manager where she worked on exhibit development, management of collections and archives, and preservation of their two historic buildings.  She has a Masters in Material Culture Studies from the University of Sheffield in England and a B.A. in Archaeology with minors in Museum Studies and Geology from SUNY Potsdam in upstate New York.
