Mindful Perspective Exploration with Yoga

Come explore the Museum’s art exhibitions through new perspectives by freeing up the body through yoga movements, breathwork and mindfulness practices. These sessions are for adults looking to deepen their connection to art through new experiential means.

Local artist and yoga teacher, Samela St. Pierre of Samsara Yoga will lead these lessons, exercises and discussions. Informed by her years studying art, Samela brings an academic perspective to observing artworks. Her nineteen years studying yoga and mindfulness allow her to lead safe and accessible yoga classes for all ages and abilities.

The sessions will include: introduction to the day’s topic/lesson, seated mindfulness centering, gentle fluid movements in the body, Savasana deep relaxation, silent solo exploration of the gallery spaces, reflections about the experience and concluding by reconvening for conversational sharing.

The lessons are designed to build upon each other, however, if you can only do one or two sessions, that works too. Bring your own mat and blocks if you have them. Bring a journal or a sketchbook too. We will have pencils, paper, extra yoga mats and blocks.

Sign up for all three sessions for the discounted price of $60; individual sessions are $25 each.
