Summer Arts: Art in Nature

This exhibition was selected from the Danforth Art Museum's permanent collection to provide a dedicated learning space for the students participating in the Summer Arts Program for children and teens.

The Summer Arts program in an immersive program that uses a variety of studio practices to provide a comprehensive art experience for children.  In addition to building a portfolio and showing their work at Friday Exhibitions, all students receive a formal tour of the Museum, learning how to view art critically with a focus on developing visual literacy.

Each year, the Summer Arts Program is built around a different theme, with weekly focus areas that explore this theme.  This summer examines how art can be found in nature and how nature can inspire art.  The works displayed here represent a variety of imagery related to nature across different eras, mediums, and styles showcasing the many ways artists and visitors alike can depict and be inspired by nature.
