A Closer Look: Meta Fuller’s Artistic Inspirations
Each gallery talk will be paired with an art making workshop. Both talk and workshop will be presented virtually with Zoom. Workshop participants will be mailed the supplies needed for that workshop class.
Gallery Talk via Zoom presented by Rachel Passannante
Join Danforth’s Collection Manager Rachel Passannante as we take a deeper look into a selection of Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller’s works. This talk will examine some of the possible historic, literature, and personal inspirations for a some of her pieces, such as Danse Macabre, Immigrant in America, and Water Boy II, to name a few.
Workshop in the Gallery facilitated by Paul Hackett
Take advantage of the opportunity to learn from accomplished sculptor, Paul Hackett as you explore how Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller created some of her sculptures. Paul will deconstruct the various processes involved in bringing these sculptures to life, and then will lead you in a simple method of creating your very own figurative sculpture. No experience required. All supplies included and shipped to participants.
