Nathan Goldstein was born in 1927 and began studying art in 1941 at the Art Institute of Chicago, returning in the 1950s for his Masters in Art. In 1956 he moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where he began teaching at the New England School of Art. He is best known for classically styled portraits, such as Jackie. In addition to portraits, Goldstein is a prolific author and has written seven books on painting, drawing, and design.
