At Home in the Studio: Meta Fuller and the Space of a Professional Women Artist
Each gallery talk will be paired with an art making workshop. Both talk and workshop will be presented virtually with Zoom. Workshop participants will be mailed the supplies needed for that workshop class.
Gallery Talk via Zoom presented by Jessica Roscio
The collection of the Danforth Art Museum contains one photograph of Meta Fuller at work in her first Framingham studio, which was in the attic of her home. Women artists often had to merge domestic and professional space while balancing multiple roles, and a home studio served multiple purposes. Join Danforth’s Curator Jessica Roscio for a discussion about Meta Fuller’s studio and how her practice fit into the larger context of being “at home in the studio” at the turn-of-the-twentieth century.
Workshop in the Studio facilitated by Michele Francouer
Inspired by the creative space used by MVWF, use a variety of materials and techniques to create a collage interpretation of what home/studio means to you as we navigate this period of extended time at home. No experience required. All supplies included and shipped to participants.
